Logic Pro - Which Macs are compatible?

David Hardy
Logic Pro - Which Mac is compatible?

Logic Pro is a very popular music creation program - powerful creative tools for professional songwriting, beat-making, editing and mixing.

As with Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro is software created by Apple so suits most Macs.

Anything with OS 11.5 (Big Sur 2014) or later will run Logic and we would recommend 8GB of RAM and minimum 256GB Storage.

An iMac or MacBook Pro or Air will work and is really down to personal preference, if you're out and about or travelling to recording studios go for a MacBook or if you have a home studio an iMac would most likely be preferable.

Here's a link to our full range, just remember to select 8GB of RAM minimum - https://cheshiremacs.com/collections/all

Serato - Which Macs are suitable?

David Hardy

Serato is now supporting Ventura!

Another frequently asked question is which Macs are compatible with Serato DJ software.

Up until the last couple of weeks Serato was not compatible with the newest Mac OS Ventura, however this is now resolved.

The system requirements for Serato are 8GB RAM, 15GB available disk space, Intel Core i5 or higher or Apple M1/M2 and OS Big Sur (11) or higher (2014 onwards).

High performance specifications:
For demanding tasks like low latency scratching, live streaming, mixing with three or more decks, or using Serato Video

2018 or later, Intel Core i9 or Apple M1/M2, 16GB RAM or higher, 15GB available disk space, Video Memory 4GB or 14-core GPU or higher.

MacBook Pro 14 and 15 inch models are perfect for this as they are of a portable size and you can get some great systems on them.

Final Cut Pro - Which Macs can run it?

David Hardy

One question that we are asked daily is which Mac's can run Final Cut Pro?

Because Final Cut Pro is Apple software the good news is the vast majority of Mac's can run it.

What is Final Cut Pro? This is Apple’s professional-level video editing software. It is an incredibly popular software for both professionals and also consumers looking for more power for their video editing projects. It does a really great job of providing a solution for both groups. There are well-publicised pros and cons for both groups. However, it has received great press once users get used to different elements of the software.

Did you know?

Final Cut Pro works exclusively on Mac computers (as it was made by Apple). It is possible that this will change in the future, but right now there are no versions available for Windows or other operating systems.

The minimum system requirements are 4GB of RAM, 1GB of VRAM, 4.5GB of available disk space and macOS 11.5.1 (Big Sur) or later.

We would recommend going for 8GB of RAM minimum and the biggest screen you can accommodate for easier editing purposes but this isn't essential.

Regarding the OS this means any MacBook Air, MacBook Pro or iMac from 2014 onwards will be compatible.

Here are some recommendations from us - https://cheshiremacs.com/collections/final-cut-pro

Our client commented:

“Nothing was too much trouble! Friendly, knowledgeable staff that went out of their way to solve an issue with a courier delivery (that was nothing to do with them) and saved Christmas! Thank you!” – Tony Macartney

Looking After your Reconditioned MacBook Battery

David Hardy

There are different terms used for a reconditioned MacBook. Some may refer to it as refurbished but both words mean the same. Essentially it is a more affordable and eco-friendlier alternative to buying new. When you get to know the team at CheshireMacs, you will be instantly assured in our approach and commitment to the success of this process.

Choosing a Reconditioned MacBook

We are here to help. We will listen to what you need, your usage and will guide you to make the right decision that matches your budget requirements. It is important that you feel confident in your selection, so our friendly team are here to help you.

Once you have made your selection, it is important that you are equipped to best look after your MacBook. Battery life is a large part of this, and this information will help you to get the most from your MacBook.

The batteries found in Macs are lithium-ion technology. These have been selected by Apple due to their high-power density and long lifespan. As you will be aware, the effectiveness of any battery is reduced over time. This is why it is so important to be aware of how to take care of your MacBooks battery.

Our Top Tips:

Li-ion batteries are more flexible than other, older batteries. However, it can be affected if left with no charge or full charge for longer periods of time.

  • Regular use is important
  • Try to let your battery complete at least a couple of discharge cycles each week
  • Don’t always plug your MacBook into your AC Adapter (as allowing discharge cycles is important to elongate the battery life)
  • If you are storing your MacBook, make sure it is not left either with zero charge or full charge

Rest assured that keeping on top of this will help your battery life. Setting regular and simple routines from the start is a great idea. Have you got questions about buying a refurbished MacBook? Get in touch today by calling our helpful team on 01625 415088.
